AUA 2021 Poster HIFI - HIFI Study: HIFU vs Radical Prostatectomy in the curative treatment of localized Prostate Cancer GG 1&2: Intermediate carcinologic results at 2 years - Prof. Pascal Rischmann . De Franse Vereniging voor Urologie (AFU) is de sponsor van de HIFI-studie in het kader van het “Forfait Innovation” (Innovatiepakket, Frans Ministerie van Volksgezondheid). Dit is een multicentrische, prospectieve, niet-gerandomiseerde vergelijkende studie waarin, in een non-inferioriteitssetting, HIFU (totaal of subtotaal) wordt vergeleken met radicale prostatectomie (RP), in twee populaties: eerstelijns en post-radiotherapie. Deze studie, geïnitieerd en gevalideerd door de Franse gezondheidsautoriteit (HAS), zal dienen als referentie voor beslissingen over de definitieve vergoeding van HIFU-behandelingen. De hier samengevatte resultaten zijn tussentijdse resultaten van de eerstelijnspopulatie. Men verwacht eind 2022 de beslissing valt en dat daarna de HIFU behandeling in het franse basispakket ziektekostenverzekering zal worden opgenomen.

Comment: EDAP USA: The argument of RCT is a false argument. A lot of the techniques and devices used in surgery today have never gone through any RCT.

In the US, they accept that a device or procedure does not have a level 1 evidence (RCT) but they require that at least one publication had a level 2A. The AUA and the AMA accepted the recently published Systematic Review from Albissini et al (please see attached) as being a level 2A evidence.

We also used the publication coming from the UK (using Sonablate device) that give 5 year survival data on focal HIFU on a large number of patients across several sites.

 In oktober 2008 werd in het Brabants Dagblad een artikel gepubliceerd " Prostaatkanker met geluidsgolven te lijf"

2009 Prostaatkanker Stichting publiceerde 'Hifu nu (eindelijk) ook binnen onze Nederlandse grenzen' 

2010 Prostaatkanker Stichting publiceerde ' Hifu nu eindelijk ook in Nederland op weg naar een vaste plaats in de bestrijding van prostaatkanker'

In 2011 werd door dr. O. van Aubel, voor de Nederlandse Vereniging van Urologie de resultaten gepresenteerd van de eerste 150 in Nederland behandelde Hifu patiënten.

In de juni uitgave 2014 van het ProstaatkankerStichting magazine werd uitgebreid aandacht besteedt aan de Focal One Hifu Robot.

In de juni uitgave 2015 van het ProstaatkankerStichting magazine staat  een nieuwe publicatie over de 372 HIFU behandelde patiënten uit de afgelopen jaren.

Het grootste prostaatkanker centrum voor radicale prostatectomie De Martini Kliniek in Hamburg neemt in mei 2015 de Focal One in gebruik.
